Lyman Marching Band Middle School Night - Friday, September 3, 2010
Dear parents and students,
Each year the Eighth grade band students from Rock Lake Band are invited to participate with the Lyman High School Band during a home game. This is a wonderful opportunity for middle school students to get to know and perform with the Lyman HS Band. Rock Lake students will be amongst the Lyman Band from the time they “march out” to the time they “march in”. The students will also perform on the field during halftime.
Please bring your child to the Lyman Auditorium at 6:00 p.m. They have a mandatory rehearsal with the high school beginning at 6:30 p.m. It is important they arrive early so that we can be organized and ready for our only rehearsal with the high school. Every child is responsible for bringing their music and instrument to and from Lyman HS. (Please make arrangements to pick up drums and/or sousaphones from Rock Lake prior to September 3).
Your child is to wear long blue jeans (no shorts or capris), closed toed shoes (sneakers, bando shoes, etc.) and their maroon Rock Lake shirt from beginning band. If you do not have one anymore or yours does not fit, please wear a solid white, blue, or yellow shirt (Lyman's school colors).
Students from both Lyman and Rock Lake will have a break during the 3rd quarter. At this time, they may go to the concession stand to buy food. At the beginning of the 4th quarter the break is over and no food or drink can be brought back to the stands (this is a Lyman Band rule).
Please note that all participating students are admitted to the game for free. Parents and other family and friends are welcome, but they will need to pay the admission fee.
After the game, students must be signed out by their parents in front of the auditorium.

From an email blast on 8-18:
Every family with a student in band should have received their band 2010-2011 information packet either at the open house or on Monday.
Thursday Night Meeting - 6:30pm in the gym.
In addition to an informational meeting for parents, advanced and concert uniform fittings will be held in the band room. We would like for all students to attend the fittings. Note, if they absolutely know they will not need any new uniform pieces, they just need to send the uniform sheet back in acknowledging they DO NOT need anything. There is a place for parents to sign. For beginning band students, the uniform is changing from a t-shirt to a polo. These will be $15 and we will also accept orders for any parent/sibling who may want one.
Free UCF All-State Clinic - Each year, the music faculty at UCF (along with special some guest instructors) hosts a clinic for students to help prepare them for the FBA All-State auditions. This year the clinic will be help on Saturday, August 28th. All the details, including the required registration form can be found here: http://music.ucf.edu/camps/allstate.php.
The 2010-2011 band handbook is available online: http://rocklakeband.org/id32.htm All students/parents need to send in a signed acknowledgement that they have reviewed the handbook. Here is the form to send in: http://www.rocklakeband.org/documents/HandbookAcknowledgement.pdf
Middle School Night at the High Schools - Each of the local high schools host incoming 8th graders during a Friday night football game. The students get to perform on the field with the marching band during the game. Fast approaching is Lyman High school on September 3rd. Watch for more details and for dates from the other schools.
